How does renting furniture make your move to Sweden easier?
When renting furniture with Cohabit, you will be able to forget the worries about figuring out where you will sleep and how you will manage to set up your new apartment which comes empty (Swedish housing is usually unfurnished).
Cohabit offers pre-loved furniture that is quality-checked, cleaned, and delivered to your apartment. You can choose from individual furniture or bundles specially catering to the needs of student apartments.

- Flexible: The delivery and pick up of the furniture is done based on your preference. It is also possible to get furniture delivered before your arrival (with the permission of the housing provider).
- Cost saving: Renting furniture for 12 months can save up to 40- 60% of the cost of buying new furniture. It is more cost-effective if your stay is for a shorter duration.
- Convenient: The hidden cost of buying furniture is in the effort and time spent by you on Transportation, installation, repair or cleaning. You avoid all the effort and time spent on these activities. Especially if you are moving for a short duration, ideally between 6 to 12 months,
- Variety: You can select the type of furniture you want for your apartment and if your preference or requirement changes, you can exchange an item for another within your rental period.
- Quality: You are assured of good quality, sturdy and functional furniture. All furniture items are cleaned well and quality checked before it is delivered.
Sustainability: Each furniture item offered by Cohabit is sourced locally from individuals and organisations. This enables a circular consumption of furniture by reallocating the furniture from people who do not need it anymore to people who need it for a short period of time.
How do I select the furniture for my apartment?
If you are a student moving to Sweden, you may be surprised to find most student apartments being rented unfurnished. Your room size must be considered when choosing the furniture. For beds, here are our recommendations:
- Single bed (200 x 90 cm): Suitable for room size 15–20 sq.m or more
- Large single bed (200 x 120 cm): Suitable for room size 18–25 sq.m or more
- Double bed (200×140 cm or 200 x 160 cm): Suitable for room size >25 sq.m
When selecting tables and chairs, one has to consider the functionality – a more social space to entertain friends and family, or a work/study space that helps you focus
How do I book items for rent?
Step 1: When you are on the website, click on the rent here button to go into our shop
Step 2: You will be asked to fill in the rental duration, for example: 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months. You may or may not know the exact date when you want to return the items, so give us the duration that works for you.
Step 3: On the shop page, you can find all the different furniture categories and the variations (sizes, functionality) within each category. Select the furniture items and their quantity.
Step 4: Enter your contact details and delivery address at the check out page. Please add a note at the checkout if you have any preferences.
Step 5: Make the payment of one month’s rent and delivery charge to confirm the order.
Step 6: Check your inbox for the email notification of order received. Forget any concerns about furniture and enjoy your day!

Can I customize my orders and packages?
Cohabit offers a unique selection of individual furniture and bundles mainly sourced to meet the basic needs of incoming students. If you have specific needs or requests, please add a note at the check-out page. Our team would gladly discuss this with you.
In case of any updates, such as adding new items or removing items, the customer is expected to communicate at least 3 days before the scheduled delivery date by mail to support@cohabit.se. Changes or updates made with less than 3 days to delivery will be treated as a new request and additional charges may apply.
Can I cancel my confirmed booking?
If your plans have changed and you want to cancel the order before delivery, please write to support@cohabit.se
Can I modify or cancel my rental order after delivery?
Once your furniture is delivered, you can use the self-service portal to request support or cancel the rental arrangement for each item or the whole order. The delivery confirmation email will provide you with access to the portal.
Can I rent individual items or only furniture bundles?
You can choose to rent individual furniture or bundles. It’s based on your preferences and requirements. Bundles are created based on popular demand from customers living in student apartments.
What can I expect from Cohabit’s rental services?
The rental service includes sourcing based on customer preference, quality assurance, cleaning, delivery into the apartment, furniture installation, and furniture collection at the end of the rental period. If your preference or requirements change, an exchange of furniture is possible.

Is there a minimum rental duration?
Cohabit offers pre-loved furniture for a minimum rental duration is 3 months.
For shorter rental durations, email us at support@cohabit.se with your requirements. We will then respond with a customized rental arrangement.
How long can I rent with Cohabit?
Cohabit recommends furniture rental for up to 12 months. However, you are welcome to extend the use of rented furniture as per your needs. Please write to support@cohabit.se if you plan to extend for an additional term or two.
How does the delivery work?
Cohabit delivers based on customer preference to make the move into your apartment hassle-free. When placing the order for the furniture, the customer can select the delivery date and preferred time.
The Cohabit team contacts the customer 2 days before the delivery date to confirm the date and time. Changes to the preferred delivery date and time can be made by emailing support@cohabit.se. Any changes made within the last 3 days from the confirmed delivery date and time will be treated as a new and special request; additional charges may apply.
On the delivery date, the furniture is brought into the apartment and set up
Does Cohabit collect the furniture?
14 Days before the rental period ends, you will receive a notification from Cohabit. You can choose to extend your rental with us or schedule a pick-up in the servicing portal. Cohabit will then collect the furniture from your apartment.
Are there charges on transportation?
Transportation charges are applicable each time during the delivery and collection of furniture. This is applicable in case of exchange of furniture within the rental duration. Standard transportation charges are 500 SEK.
What is the pre-arrival delivery of the furniture?
Cohabit has a collaboration with some housing providers in Lund and Malmo which allows us to deliver the furniture before the arrival of the customer to Sweden. This is possible with written permission from the customer to the housing manager giving access to Cohabit to collect the apartment keys for the sole purpose of delivering the furniture.
Cohabit has delivered furniture to numerous customers residing in AF Bostäder (Sparta and Delphi) in Lund, and Heimstaden Studenthus in Malmö in this format. However, it could be possible in other locations as well. Please write to support@cohabit.se to learn more about this process.
How and when can I pay the rent at Cohabit ?
You can pay by card when placing your order on the website. If you face any challenges in card payment, we also accept Revolut and Swish payments (only Swedish bank accounts). Kindly write to us at support@cohabit.se to get payment info.
Recurring invoices will be sent to your mail. You can set up auto debit or make manual payments using the same information as above.
What happens if the furniture gets damaged during the rental period?
We encourage customers to handle Cohabit furniture with love and care, but in case of damage, please report it to us immediately using the self-service portal. We will assess the damage and make the necessary repairs or exchange the item when needed.
The repair cost will vary depending on the damage and a part of the repair is charged to the customer.
Can I return the furniture before the end of the rental period ?
Customers can terminate their rental contract at any time using the self-service portal. Transportation charges are applicable.
